Homework 3/9/10

1) Yes, I like presenting information because I find it easy to present now after years of doing it in school.

2) The key elements in a good speech is making eye contact with your audience and to speak loud and clear.

3) The difference between them is you may be able to present something you like better, unlike something you don’t like a lot, you’ll just go through the motions.

4) PowerPoint s helpful because it lets you organize your information into slides that help you organize and present your thoughts.

5) I think I will be using PowerPoint in a business presentation in my future career, it will be used very often

a. the struggles I had in making this staying under the required budget of $75, and it was very tough for me, and by a stroke of luck i was under budget by $0.01
b. The importance is to not spend more money than you have so you can live a balanced financial life.

Black History Month (Michael Jordan)

What Michael specially brought to the game of basketball was the first superstar of the game. He set records in the NBA that were never expected to go so high, that it raised the bar for future stars of the game. He also won so many titles during his NBA career that it makes great players seam like nothing because of how many titles he has gotten. He inspired many young players to the best of their ability, including Lebron James, who grew up as MJ being his idol, and is now being considered to be the best since MJ. Michael Jordan has left a legacy on the game of basketball that will never be forgotten ever.

What I learned from watching Michael Jordan play is that he brought something to everyone in America who watched him play. He play the game of basketball a unique style that is still respected to this day. He meant a lot of all his fan and he will always he missed playing on the courts, but the memories that he made on the court will last for a lifetime.

Explanation on My Top 6 Colleges

1) Bucknell University

The reason I choose this college is because of the previous history that I have known of the school. My dad is an alumni of Bucknell, and with all the visits I have payed to the campus I have come to love this college. First time that I like is the amount of activities that they contain on campus for students, which includes numerous amounts of intramural sports. Also I like this school because of their athletic facilities, especially in their school department which I plan to continue going into college, especially since Bucknell is a Division 1 school. But I have researched that one of the best reasons for me to go to Bucknell is that they have the major I wish to do “Political Science/Government”

2) Mount Saint Mary’s College (L.A. , California)

The reason that I choose this college is because originally it was my favorite college basketball team, but I have come to learn more things I actually like about it. It has always been my dream to go to college in California, I have always wanted to live there, and this college seems to be the right fit. Also I like this school, as well as my parents, because it would let me continue my Catholic education because it is a Roman Catholic College. But also just as Bucknell did, M.S.M. also has two choice for the major I want to take in government/politics.

3) Rowan University 

The reason that I choose this college is because it is my favorite in-state college. Over the traveling that my family did when my sister was looking for colleges 5 years ago, I told my parent that all of the schools bored me, except for Rowan, it just felt to me that something was very special about it to me. But besides that Rowan also contains what I wish to major in government/politics.

4) Texas Tech University

The reason that I choose this college is because that I had two cousin who graduated from Texas Tech, and from that I have an appreciation for this school. I always have enjoyed the sports that they have on campus, and I believe that I can get into this school, I have a feeling about it. But also just as the other colleges it contain what I want to major in.

5) Virginia Tech

The reason that I  would choose this school is because it has a great variety of majors, and it is not as far as the other colleges I like. It has the specific major that I want, but this school also gives me more options on things I could minor in, which makes this school very unique to all the other colleges I like. The only exception that I give to this school that it larger than I would prefer, but I give this school an exemption because I like this school so much.

6) Georgia Tech

There are two reasons why I really do like this school, the first one is something I have said for all my other choices, it has the major that I want. The one very big reason that I like about this school is because they have the highest percentage of out-of-state acceptances than all the other schools I choose.

Social Network Reform

Today we watched a clip on the social reform that is going on in the world, and it opened my eyes to facts I knew and some I would have never guessed. The thing that stood out to the most is if Facebook was a country it would bee the 4th largest country in the world. Also that youTube is the 2nd largest search engine in the world, it just shows us how the world has changed in the last 50 years. Its just a shock on the old ways are going away so quickly and the new ways just keep coming quicker and quicker.

What is a tablet computer? (Currnet events)

A “tablet” computer is a touch – screen computer which provides a keyboard-less computer to make things easier, but that what it seems it to be for everyone.This problem came up because of the mixed opinions of what should classify as a tablet. Some believe it is anything with a touch screen, but others say it should be able to be written on with a stylus. It is in Las Vegas, Nevada where computer industry representatives can not decide on what exactly is a “tablet” computer. During the last two weeks this issue is coming up, and it is still undecided among everyone, especially with new “tablet” computers coming out.

Microsoft Researches on “Black Screen of Death”

Microsoft company has been researching on complaints that Windows 7 have some security problems, one of them is dubbed “the black screen of death”. The problem is is that when somebody logs in there in no desktop, toolbar, or anything at all. This has been happening all over the world, mostly in the U.S. and in England. This problem started happening soon after the new Windows 7 came out, and as expected not all the bugs were kinked out, but nobody expected a bug so serious could remain. Still Microsoft knows how this bug came to be, but they most likely think it is just a programing error, and it will soon be fixed.

Creative Story :)

I was on a boat with a bunch of strange people that liked  to throw food, and I don’t even know how i got on the boat.  I was exploring the boat when I saw a bunch of people in masks fighting each other. As I ran into the crowd wondering what had happened I started to unmask the people. The people that I was able to find out were Pikachu, Will Smith, and Quagmire. As I was wondering why all these people were there Luigi and Mario shot fireballs at everyone and they all caught on fire. Everyone ran off the boat to put out the fire, but when I heard no splash I looked over to see what happened, there was a Transformer catching everyone, and I ran away screaming. It started to capture everyone on the boat and I found a bazooka in the captains room, and still wondering why it was there I brand it out and shoot it at the Transformer. When I did a flag popped out and said bang, and I started to flip out. After this I saw Mario come out and destroy the Transformer. While he was doing this I asked Luigi “Why are you even here on the boat?” and he told me “We heard there was pizza on board, and the Transformer had it”. As I wondered if this was possible I just walked away and we reached land soon later.

College Outlook

The college that you choose you affect how much you will have to pay depending on where your college is. If you are going to an in state school you will pay less but you may be sacrificing a better education in another school. When deciding where you go to college your main choice will come down to money or education. The choice you make will affect how you begin your professional the day you graduate from college.

I know that nobody wants to pay off a huge debt after they graduate from college, so the price of the school you choose will affect if you will have a debt after. Almost every student who graduates from college will have a student debt, and became of this even those who graduate from smart colleges will struggle to survive with paying it off. So its your choice on how much tougher it will be after college by how much you need to pay. This one issue can affect you for the rest of your life.

Scholarships are probably the #1 issue that students go to a school for. Its free money to go to a school, and most of the time you will take a discount over a better college. So the amount of money you could get,  the process starts in high school. Depending  on how well you do in these four years can affect which college you will go to. Even though most students don’t agree with this, the amount of money a school offers will affect your judgement on where you will be for college.

Something that may not affect your judgment is going to an in-state college or out of state college. It comes down to room and board in this case, if you could just live at home and save money or experience life outside home and live in a new place. Also do you want the better school or the one that is closest to you, its all up to you. It may not be the biggest factor in your decision but it may still affect you in the slightest of ways.

So these are some of the topics that could affect where you will be going to college. Do you want to be able to be close to home or far away? Will you be sold out of going to a good college for money? Or could the debt you pay after school affect if you go there or not? These are all questions you will ask yourself when you go through the college process.
